Description:
Learn to identify opportunities for creating more engaging meetings and group work through the use of Liberating Structures. Participants in your group activities will feel energized by these techniques instead of bored by conventional methods of working together. Liberating Structures is a self-organizing methodology including 33+ ways of changing how results are generated.

Your Speakers:

Marie Logan is the Director of Operations & Strategic Initiatives at UC Santa Cruz in the Business and Administrative Services (BAS) division. In addition to having served as an Assistant Dean for many years, she has done corporate and foundation relations fundraising, so she comes to this work with a broad perspective. She has led many cross-functional simplification efforts, leads a large training institute, and teaches staff development courses at UC Santa Cruz on the topics of Lean Thinking and Liberating Structures. She also serves on the NCCI Professional Development committee.

Melani Roberson serves as the Program Manager for UC San Diego’s ideation tool and program, IdeaWave, for the Office of Operational Strategic Initiatives team. Melani is an expert in innovation management, and consults and advises groups on campus, as well as externally, on how to achieve and implement business innovation goals. She is adept at change management and an expert group facilitator who is able to engage groups at events of any size. Melani earned her M.B.A. with an emphasis in Project Management in 2013, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt from UC San Diego Extension in 2016.
