Session Description

A popular meme asserts, “There is no cloud, it’s just someone else’s computer.” Not only is this statement technically wrong, it’s misleading. If you think of the cloud as just a computer somewhere else, you will not only miss the positive opportunities that a cloud transition can provide for your enterprise, but you may also make decisions that put your organization at risk.

Michael Berman, chief innovation officer, has had extensive experience in transforming technology services using the cloud, and is part of the team leading the development of system-wide architecture and strategy to help guide the 23 campuses of the California State University in their cloud journey. He will debunk some of the common myths about cloud services and help you better understand the opportunities and risks associated with the cloud revolution.

Learning Objectives

 Participants will:

●       Have a deeper understanding of the various flavors of cloud services, and understand them “beyond the jargon.”

●       Be able to enter into a productive dialog with your IT department or provider about the tradeoffs associated with migrating to cloud services.

●       Know what questions to ask to ensure your organization benefits from the capabilities offered by cloud services while mitigating the associated risks.
